Kirsters Baish| It’s finally happened. An undercover FBI informant has come forward to explain that he was involved in the Russian acquisition of Uranium One. He spoke with congressional investigators on Wednesday.
The Hill reported that American businessman William Doulas Campbell gave a written statement and sat for multiple hours of questioning from representatives of three different committees. These committees were the Senate Judiciary, House Intelligence, and House Oversight and Government Reform. He explained to them everything that he had learned and shared with his handlers at the FBI.
He explained that Russia had sent millions of dollars into America. The hope was to gain influence with Hillary and Bill Clinton. This was during the time that Hillary Clinton was serving as Secretary of State and had taken the lead in the Russian “reset” foreign policy. He testified that the Russian money went through APCO Worldwide, an American lobbying firm. He stated that APCO Worldwide was hired for a yearly fee of $3 million. The intent was to buy favor with the Clinton family toward Russia after finances were given to former President Bill Clinton’s “charitable” work. This was reported by the Washington Examiner.
Campbells written statement read, “The contract called for four payments of $750,000 over twelve months. APCO was expected to give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative decisions on everything from Uranium One to the U.S.-Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement.”
APCO was asked to comment on the matter. They didn’t deny that they had worked with Russian interests as well as the Clinton Foundation, however, they did insist that the work was entirely separate.
Nick Merrill, a Clinton spokesman, along with other elected Democrats, tried to pin Campbell’s testimony as a distraction and tried to knock his credibility. In turn, Republicans argued that his story was credible and reminded the Dems that Campbell had been an informant for the FBI for years as well as with the CIA. He had been given a $50,000 check at one point as well as commendation from the FBI in 2016 for his work uncovering a broad bribery and racketeering scheme by non other than the Russians.
Campbell notified the FBI about the Russian plot to gain ground in the United States uranium market back in 2009. This ended in their gaining approval in 2010 from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States for the sale of Canadian-owned uranium. They held mining interests in our country… to a Russian mining company named Rosatom.
Campbell also gave authorities documents that he had which showed how Russian and American executives were involved in the scheme which had involved bribery in order to obtain an approval.
On top of that, Campbell also explained how Russia was possibly violating international sanctions by their provision of aid as well as their assistance to Iran when it came to the constructing and fabricating of their nuclear reactor facilities. He went on to claim that he had done a lot of his work while battling brain cancer and leukemia. He also confided that he had been battling with alcoholism. He had spent hundreds of thousands of his own money in FBI-directed bribes in order to maintain his identity. He was never repaid.
Victoria Toensing, Campbell’s attorney, stated “Mr. Campbell testified for over four hours until he answered every question from three Congressional committees; the Senate Judiciary, House Oversight and House Intelligence committees. He recounted numerous times that the Russians bragged that the Clintons’ influence in the Obama administration would ensure CIFIUS approval for Uranium One. And he was right.”
It seems that Campbell just gave Congress everything they need, and everything we had already suspected to be true. The Russians paid for influence with the Clintons so they could purchase a mining company which would give them total control of a huge part of United States-producted uranium. All fingers point to Clinton on this one.
