Kirsters Baish| Ever since he took office in January, President Donald Trump has been working hard in order to dismantle the legacy of the Obama administration. He has been trudging full steam ahead and we don’t see him stopping any time soon. His most recent project is going to really get Michelle Obama’s goat. ABC News reported that the Department of Agriculture finally made the announcement that they would be stopping some of the former first lady’s restrictions on what can and cannot be served in public school cafeterias.
After a period for public comment, schools will be allowed to serve chocolate milk once again as of July 1st, 2018. Thank God some restrictions are finally being lifted, or should I say, thank Trump? It was announced by the USDA that they will also be easing their restrictions on sodium content. They will also be allowing milk with one percent fat to be served in school cafeterias once again. Ding dong the witch is dead! (Or at least out of the White House…)
Sonny Perdue, Agriculture Secretary, spoke about the matter explaining, “Schools need flexibility in menu planning so they can serve nutritious and appealing meals. Schools want to offer food that students actually want to eat. It doesn’t do any good to serve nutritious meals if they wind up in the trash can.”
School lunches under Michelle Obama’s watch were some of the most disgusting and unappetizing things I have ever seen. Thankfully the Trump administration is working hard to get rid of the slop Michelle was trying to serve our children. While it has taken a little longer than was expected, we are starting to see some serious progress. We will now be able to make sure our children have lunches that will provide them with proper nutrition and lunches that they will actually agree to eat.
It was reported by USA Today that some people are unhappy with the easing of regulations. They are claiming that the lax in regulations will lead to more obesity as well as the complete dismantling of Obama’s legacy.
Too bad for those people, but it’s up to the parents of children to take care of their own kids and teach them how to be healthy. It’s not up to our government to control what our children put in their mouths. I’m sure the students are extremely happy to see the program full of disgusting lunches go.
Perdue stated, “Based on the feedback we’ve gotten from students, schools, and food service professionals in local schools across America, it’s clear that many still face challenges incorporating some of the meal pattern requirements.”
Kids across America will be happy to know that the Obama’s gross school lunches and overly restrictive regulations are coming to an end… finally!
Government should keep their noses out of our everyday lives. School lunches do not concern them. Parents should be the ones deciding what their kids eat. Let’s hope President Trump and his administration keep up the good work and put an end to the ridiculousness that was left behind by the Obama administration.
