Kirsters Baish| When will Hollywood actors learn to be quiet and keep their noses out of politics? Outspoken anti-Trump actor Alec Baldwin is the latest celeb to come out and bash President Trump, but this certainly isn’t his first time throwing shade at the President. It’s just that what Baldwin said this time was truly idiotic. If he’s going to make empty threats, he should learn to keep his mouth shut. Or, he can go ahead and put his money where his mouth is.
Baldwin appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show this past Monday. During his time on the air, the liberal actor explained that he will not be running in the 2020 presidential election, however, if he were to run, he feels that he is one of the few Democrats who would be able to take down President Trump after serving just one term of his presidency.
When Stern and Baldwin began steering the conversation toward politics, Baldwin stated that there were only “a couple people” who would be able to beat out our Commander in Chief in the election.
The radio host stated, “I’ve got a name for you: Alec Baldwin.”
“If I ran, I would win. I would absolutely win. One thousand percent,” Baldwin boasted to Stern.
Stern then questioned Baldwin as to why he isn’t running if he is so sure that he would win.
“I gotta do ‘Match Game,’” Baldwin stated. He was referring to his Summer job of hosting a game show on ABC network. He went on, “I don’t want to miss summer – boy would I miss summer with my kids.”
Western Journal reports of the interview:
Stern then suggested Baldwin run for president while doing his Donald Trump impersonation, which Baldwin has turned into a recurring character on “Saturday Night Live.”
“If I ran for president, I would win. Hands down, I would win,” he said. “It would be the funniest, most exciting, craziest campaign.”
When the joking susbsided, Baldwin said he has confidence a strong candidate will emerge to oust Trump.
“Somebody great’s going to come up, I hope,” Baldwin said.
“The only reason I say that I’d love to run for that position to just have things be very common sense. There are so many things this country needs to do that are so obvious,” he added.
Alec Baldwin has talked about his interest in running for president in the past. It was just last year that he told students at George Washington University that he would be interested in running for president, however he is unable to with his current lifestyle.
The Hill reported that he said to the crowd, “Would I think I’d be a good president? Yeah, I think I’d be a good president. To run for office is something that I want to do.” He then claimed that running “doesn’t seem to be practical with my lifestyle and my children.”
It’s time for Alec Baldwin to put up or shut up. Stop talking about running and just do it… or stop talking about it and don’t. Either way.
