Kirsters Baish| Most people who are somewhat sane at least partially understand that the Trump dossier was 100% bogus. The entire thing was a ploy to take down Trump, and on false information at that. The majority of the dossier has been debunked and proved to be fabricated at this point. During the last few months, many of us have been searching for answers as to how Fusion GPS created the phony document, but the opposition research behind it has been dragging their feet a bit too much for our liking.
A federal judge delivered a huge setback to Fusion GPS this past week.
BizPac Review reported that the Democratic opposition research firm, Fusion GPS, is now unable to stop the House Intelligence Committee from finding out how paid for the phony Trump dossier and who leaked it to the media before the 2016 presidential election. The ruling was made on Thursday evening by a federal judge.
BuzzFeed News obtained documents claiming that United States District Court Judge Richard Leon denied the request by Fusion GPS for injunction. The firm argued that this kind of forced disclosure would be a direct violation of the agency’s First Amendment protections.
In his ruling, Judge Leon wrote, “Because I find all of Fusion’s objections to the subpoena to be unavailing.”
There’s more to the story, however. The Federalist reported that on Thursday, a United States District Judge actually denied Fusion GPS’s efforts to keep bank records from the House Committee. Judge Leon began presiding over the case after the previous judge, Tanya Chutkan recused herself halfway through the case due to unspecified conflicts. Leon shot down all four grounds that Fusion GPS used to attempt to block the congressional subpoena. This specific subpoena had requests for records and payments from Fusion GPS to journalists who have ever covered the Russian dossier story.
Fusion GPS stated that the request for records didn’t have a valid legislative purpose. They also said that the records were irrelevant and the request violated First Amendment rights to speech and association. They also claimed that it violated privacy laws. Judge Leon didn’t agree with the firm on any of the counts.
Mollie Hemingway laid everything out in the Federalist article. Fusion GPS is driving themselves into the ground, and they are well aware of it at this point.
Judge Leon wrote, “While the opposition research Fusion conducted on behalf of its clients may have been political in nature. Fusion’s commercial relationship with those clients was not, and thus that relationship does not provide Fusion with some special First Amendment protection from subpoenas … the First Amendment is not a secrecy pact!”
Fox News confirmed back in October that Fusion GPS was retained by non other than Marc Elias. Elias is the same attorney who is representing the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The DNC and Hillary Clinton actually paid Fusion GPS to make the phony dossier.
It’s time that the American people get the answers that we so desperately deserve. President Trump won a fair election, but the left doesn’t want you to know that. They would rather keep producing phony documents and making up reasons for us to hate our Commander in Chief. The truth of the matter is that the left has proved themselves to be entirely corrupt, and it’s about time that someone call them out on their crap.
