Fully Funded Border Wall Bill to Be Introduced by House Majority Leader

Kirsters Baish| Earlier this week, a top House Republican stated that he is preparing to introduce a new piece of legislation which says that the border wall will finally be constructed.

On Tuesday, Republican House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California explained that he is calling for a fully funded border wall between the southern border of the United States and Mexico, as reported by Breitbart News.

McCarthy wrote on Twitter this past Tuesday, “Few things are more fundamental to a nation than a protected border. Proud to introduce the Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act.”

It is expected that McCarthy will attempt to take the position of House Speaker, that is as long as the Republicans keep control of the House in the quickly approaching midterm elections.

Republican Jim Jordan of Ohio, who is also a co-founder of the House Freedom Caucus, and Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana, are also possible contenders for the position, as reported by Roll Call.

McCarthy’s proposed bill would allow $23.4 billion to go to the construction of the border wall. $1.6 billion has already been approved by Congress to build the wall.

Western Journal writes that the House Majority Leader’s proposal “will address other immigration- and crime-related issues such as sanctuary cities and criminal gangs.”

Last month, President Trump took to Twitter to explain how frustrated he was that Congress had not yet funded the much needed border wall.

He angrily wrote, “I want to know, where is the money for Border Security and the WALL in this ridiculous Spending Bill, and where will it come from after the Midterms? Dems are obstructing Law Enforcement and Border Security. REPUBLICANS MUST FINALLY GET TOUGH!”

McCarthy explained that this bill will help protect our country and the citizens who live here.

“For decades, America’s inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created a huge loophole to the legal channels to the immigration process where America welcomes immigrants to our country,” McCarthy explained in a statement, which Breitbart published.

“President Trump’s election was a wake-up call to Washington. The American people want us to build the wall and enforce the law. Maintaining strong borders is one of the basic responsibilities of any nation. For too long, America has failed in this responsibility,” McCarthy further stated.

Getting the border wall funded and constructed has been a challenge for Trump for the past year and a half.

House Speaker Paul Ryan explained that this will not likely change anytime soon.

“We intend on having a full-fledged discussion on how to complete our mission to secure the border and yes, we will have a fight about this,” he stated on Monday, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
