After Democrats Refused to Listen to Him During Border Security Briefing, President Trump Goes Totally Old School

Kirsters Baish| When Congressional Democrats refused to listen to President Donald Trump’s border security briefing on Wednesday, he wasn’t about to let them disrespect him. He decided to send the whole presentation of slides in a letter to every single Congressional member in addition to the media on Friday.

President Trump stated in the letter, “It had been my hope that Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen would have the opportunity to deliver a presentation discussing the facts about the depth and severity of the humanitarian crisis and the security crisis that is now unfolding at the Southern Border.” He continued, “however, some of those present did not want to hear the presentation at the time, and so I have instead decided to make the presentation available to all Members of Congress.”

A White House official with inside knowledge about the meeting gave their account of the meeting to The Daily Caller on Wednesday afternoon. The source made note that neither Representative Nancy Pelosi nor Representative Chuck Schumer would even let Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to start her briefing.

The Daily Caller reports:

The meeting instead devolved into negotiations over how to end the partial government shutdown, in a fight centering around border wall funding.

Pelosi and Schumer have both declared they will not appropriate anymore than $1.3 billion in border security funding, and that none of it could be used for building a wall. Trump conversely is demanding 5.6 billion and has said he will keep the government partially closed as long as is necessary.

President Trump is set to meet with both Pelosi and Schumer again this coming Friday for another meeting. They are expected to discuss bringing an end to the partial government shutdown.
